Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Rep. Alonzo reminds all children in grades K-6 to submit entries to the
2012 Adopt-A-Beach Art Contest which is currently underway through the General Land Office (GLO). The deadline to submit entries is
March 5 2012.
I urge all young children artists in grades K-6 in House District 104 schools to once again participate in the 16th annual 2012 Adopt-A-Beach Art Contest and have an opportunity to showcase their artistic abilities and win prizes such two round-trip airline tickets to anywhere in the US free passes to Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels and tickets to the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi among others.
Most importantly the contest will give children a great opportunity to learn more about the Texas coast and express individually what they treasure most about our Texas beaches through their artwork. I urge all children and their teachers to participate. Teachers of the winning student entries will also win prizes said Rep. Alonzo.

2012 Adopt-A-Beach Art Contest is currently underway. The art competition is open to all Texas students in grades K-6 (public private and home-schooled). All entries must incorporate the slogan
Trashing Texas Beaches Isnt Cool". Artwork must be displayed on a plain sheet of white 8 1/2" X 11" paper and can be in any medium except computer generated. Three-dimensional art or artwork displaying logos product brands and/or store names is ineligible. All entries must include an entry/parental consent/student pledge form attached on the back. Ten winners will be chosen from each of four grade-level categories (K 2nd 3rd 4th 5th and 6th) for a total of 40 winners. One grand prize winner will be chosen from among the 40 finalists. Winning artwork will appear together in a 2013 calendar which will be distributed throughout the state. This years grand prize winner will receive two round-trip coach-class tickets from United Airlines to any United destination in the 48 contiguous United States one 7-night Caribbean cruise from Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines departing out of Galveston Miami or Ft. Lauderdale and a class party at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels.
The grand prize winners teacher will also receive two round-trip coach-class tickets from United Airlines and one 7-night Caribbean cruise courtesy of Royal Caribbean Cruises. All 40 winners will receive a ticket to the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi two all day passes to Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels two tickets to the permanent exhibit hall at the Houston Museum of Natural Science prizes and a certificate of recognition from the Texas General Land Office and a calendar displaying the winning artwork.
WHEN: All submissions must be postmarked by Monday March 5th 2012 and mailed to the Texas General Land Office. Late submissions will not be accepted.
HOW: Review the contest guidelines and sign the entry/parental consent/student pledge form and attach the form to the back of the entry.
