Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Joe Barton (R-Ennis/Arlington) released the following statement after voting against the latest continuing resolution plan that only partially delays ObamaCare:
“The House continues to negotiate against itself. While Republicans attempt to forge a compromise, the Senate Democrats stand their ground.The result is a progressively worsening deal for Americans. We have gone from a bill which would have completely defunded ObamaCare to a one year delay; and tonight voted on a just partial delay. My constituents haven’t been shy in sharing their dislike for this law and their desire to cut federal spending. Tonight, I turned their voices into a vote and said no to the continuing resolution that enables ObamaCare.
“No one wants a shutdown, including me and my House colleagues. However, I am opposed to borrowing a trillion dollars or more every year with no plan to balance the federal budget and keep it balanced. I don’t normally support these temporary stop gap funding bills because they just kick the can down the road. Now is the time for the Congress and the President to agree on a short term and long term plan to eliminate the federal deficit, balance the federal budget, and keep it balanced. We need to start now because with each passing day we get further in debt and a real solution gets tougher to reach.”
