Texas Insider Report: Washington D.C. The House Republican Steering Committee today selected Congressman John Culberson (R-TX) to be the next Chairman of the Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs. Congressman Culberson who has served on the Appropriations Committee since 2002 made the following statement upon learning of the Steering Committee vote:
I am honored to be selected to chair the Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs. I look forward to working with our new Chairman Congressman Hal Rogers (R-KY) and my colleagues on the committee to provide for the security safety and comfort of our soldiers and veterans.
As our men and women in uniform continue fighting two wars overseas it is vital that they have the most up-to-date training facilities and that the veterans who have served receive expedited care at top notch hospitals.
With the third largest subcommittee budget on the Appropriations Committee it is equally important to eliminate any inefficient programs and cut initiatives that are not producing results. Our military and our veterans deserve the very best we can provide."
