He currently serves on the Appropriations Committee the Natural Resources Committee and is Chair of the Edwards Aquifer Legislative Oversight Committee. Prior to serving in the Legislature Doug was Mayor of New Braunfels and was Chairman of the Edwards Aquifer Authority.  He is President of Miller & Miller Insurance Agency is a licensed Real Estate Broker and is on the Board of Directors of First State Bank New Braunfels.  He holds the rank of Major in the Texas State Guard. Miller and his wife Anne have been married for 34 years and are the proud parents of two children and a granddaughter.
