Rep. Fallons Leadership Council Involves Young People in Political Process

Intern Selections for House District 106 Announced

PatTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas We have an opportunity to begin working with the next generation of leaders by acquainting them with government and service at an early age. In addition to helping them develop their individual leadership skills we want to help make government more accessible to everyone said State Rep. Pat Fallon announcing a dynamic new internship program in House District 106 aimed at encouraging high school students to learn about and become engaged in the political process.  

We are really excited to extend this opportunity to some really great kids who can help us do that said Fallon (R-Frisco).

The search began as an earnest attempt to find interns for the District Office located in Little Elm but expanded into a larger initiative after realizing the potential impact that involving more young people may have on the community. The selection process narrowed the field from about 100 inquiries to twenty eight interviews and finally to the selection of 10 talented students:

  3. Alison Gage of Frisco (Lone Star High School)
  4. Maddy Gosnell of Frisco (Legacy Christian Academy)
  5. Sarah Meeks of Frisco (Frisco High School)
  6. Marissa Morris of Pilot Point (Pilot Point High School)
  7. Courtney Smith of Frisco (Wakeland High School)
  8. Robert Stewart of Oak Point (homeschool)
  9. Brandon Summerlin of Frisco (Wakeland High School) and
  10. Micky Willis of Frisco (Legacy Christian Academy)
The interns will help with constituent services at the district office in Little Elm. Duties will also include interaction with community leaders and elected officials as well as attending civic events throughout the district. They will also enjoy a sponsored trip to Austin to engage in the action of the legislative process first hand. The Legislative Leadership Council (LLC) will meet six times annually and will serve as a workshop to explore ideas that will benefit the community and develop leadership skills. The LLC consists of 25 students on an invitation-only basis. Fallon asked community leaders to aid in the selection process for both the internship and the LLC. State Representative Pat Fallon of Frisco Texas represents Texas House District 106 and is a member of the Human Services and the Technology Committees. He served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and previously served on the Frisco City Council including as the Frisco Mayor Pro Tem. Fallon is the owner and CEO of Virtus Apparel employing nearly 100 Americans.
