Price vows to continue his strong advocacy for Panhandle Values
Texas Insider Report: AMARILLO Texas
We have some challenges ahead of us but with challenges come great opportunities. I will continue to work diligently for my constituents and all Texans said Republican State Representative Four Price in announcing his filing for reelection for a second term as the legislator representing the constituents of Texas State House District 87. With his wife Karen at his side Price recently made his intentions known before an enthusiastic crowd of Panhandle supporters.
It has been a privilege and honor to serve the 8th House District in the Texas Legislature and it is a responsibility that I take very seriously Price said.
I will continue to work diligently for my constituents and all Texans.
Commenting on the experience he gained during the last session Price said he acquired tremendous insight into and knowledge about the legislative process. Experience which Price believes will be crucial during the next legislative session beginning in January 2013.
House District 87 in the 2012 election cycle will consist of Hutchinson Moore Potter and Sherman counties. House District 87 as drawn by the Texas Legislature differs from the interim map recently released by a panel of federal judges in San Antonio Texas.
While both plans add Hutchinson County to HD 87 the federal judges moved Carson County into another district.
My strong desire is to continue representing the citizens in Carson County because I have worked with them on shared legislative concerns. Additionally Carson County is where my great grandfather settled upon coming to the Texas Panhandle so I have roots there.
Even though Carson County is not part of House District 87 under the interim House map Price noted that his door will always be open to Carson County residents.
Regarding the addition of Hutchinson County Price stated that he has many friends and supporters there and looks forward to serving that area in the Texas Legislature.
Many issues and concerns in Hutchinson County are similar to those I am already addressing on behalf of residents in Carson Moore Potter and Sherman counties. I am excited that Hutchinson County is now part ofHD 87.
Price is a member of The Energy Council and is the only member from the Texas Panhandle currently serving on the House Natural Resources Committee as well as the House Culture Recreation and Tourism Committee. He is also a Vice Chairman of the House Rural Caucus which consists of representatives who strongly advocate for rural Texas on issues ranging from agriculture to rural health care.
The Republican primary takes place March 6 2012. The general election will be held November 6 2012.
