Published: 02-26-08TYLER TX – US Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) will be hosting a Veterans forum in Tyler next month to give Veterans an opportunity to learn more about services available to them and have their concerns addressed. The event is especially timely considering the recent cut-backs in the benefits counseling service provided by the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Congressman has invited representatives from both local and regional veterans services offices and the Smith County Commissioners’ Court to address the concerns of the veteran community garner feedback and consider solutions for improved service.
Congressman Gohmert urges all Veterans in east Texas to attend stating “Those who have served honorably deserve to be served honorably and the purpose of this forum is to hear from all relevant officials about what their offices can do to help Veterans. Right now I’m not convinced they are receiving the service they deserve and the bottom line is determining what we can do better”.
“I hope east Texas Veterans and their families will attend so that local and regional Veterans Offices can inform the community of the services they have to offer and discuss how to improve those services.
