Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas On Wednesday Texas House Speaker Joe Straus named Rep. Jim Jackson (R-Carrollton) Chairman of the House Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence Committee.
I am honored that the Speaker had the confidence to appoint me as Chair to such an important committee. I look forward to working closely with Vice-Chair Tryon Lewis and the appointed committee members. Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence is responsible for all bills related to civil litigation and courts which are vital to the administration of justice and the business interest of our great state. The committee has legislative oversight of agencies associated with civil justice.
In addition Rep. Jackson was appointed to serve on the House County Affairs Committee. His long years of service as a Dallas County Commissioner make this an ideal committee for him to use his expertise.
Now that committee assignments have been made I am excited about addressing the needs and challenges faced within district 115 and the state of Texas.
