Conservative Businessman Republican Caucus Chair Endorsed by Fellow GOP Legislators
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas FRIENDSWOOD TEXAS: State Representative Larry Taylor (R-Friendswood) officially
announced his intention to run for the Texas Senate in District 11. The seat is currently held by Sen. Mike Jackson (R-La Porte) who announced his plans last week to run for a newly created Congressional district. Senate District 11 is comprised of parts of Brazoria Galveston and Harris counties.
Rep. Taylor said Im running for the Texas Senate on my record of conservative leadership and effective representation. Im committed to ensuring sound fiscal discipline in state government spending and stopping the growth of needless government intrusion into our lives."
Taylor also announced the endorsement of his Republican colleagues in SD 11: Rep. Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton) Rep. Ken Legler (R-Pasadena) Rep. Randy Weber (RPearland) and Rep. Wayne Smith (R-Baytown). Rep. Weber said
Larry Taylor has been a leading voice for conservative leadership in the Texas House of Representatives. It will be an honor to have him as my State Senator because I know he can get the job done."
Rep. Ken Legler voiced his support for Taylors campaign and said Senate District 11 is a huge district with nearly 800000 residents. Larry Taylor

will be able to hit the ground running when he is elected and will be effective on Day 1 because of his respected leadership abilities."
Taylor is currently serving his 5th term in the Texas House of Representatives and his 2nd term as Chairman of the House Republican Caucus. Taylor is:
- Chairman of the House Elections Committee
- a member of the House Insurance Committee
- Co-Chairman of the Joint Windstorm Insurance Legislative Oversight Board and
- member of the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission.
Taylor is the owner of Truman Taylor Insurance a family owned business operating in southeast Texas for almost 50 years. Taylor was raised in Friendswood Texas. He and his wife Kerri are the proud parents of 3 children.
