Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas In response to the vicious and deadly attacks on our Dallas Police Department officers DART officer and civilians State Representative Jeff Leach who represents a portion of the City of Dallasin the Texas House of Representatives today released the following statement:
The heart of Dallas - the city in which I was born - is broken. Words cannot express the profound sorrow our community is enduring as we reflect on these horrific cowardly acts of terror. Becky joins me in offering our heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the five fallen officers and their loved ones as well as for the seven officers and two civilians who were injured. We pray that God will pour out His abundant blessings and a peace that surpasses all understanding on these families during this time of darkness. I could not be more proud of the brave men and women in the Dallas Police Department and DART many of whom are my personal friends for fighting so selflessly to protect Dallas and her citizens in the midst of such horrific violence. I commend Governor Abbott my fellow state officials and our Dallas city leaders for working around the clock to ensure that our law enforcement agencies are equipped with all of the resources they need to appropriately and fully respond. As a State Representative for a portion of the City of Dallas I and my office stand ready to assist and serve city state and federal officials and other community leaders in the coming days. During tragic times such as this it is imperative that we band together and unite as a community as Texans and as Americans - in complete solidarity and support of our law enforcement. Let it be said of each of us that we did not curse the darkness with more darkness - but that we pierced the darkness with bright light and with abiding love for Every life."
