Rep. Orr on Railroad Commissions Johnson County Pipeline Explosion Report

width=91Texas Insider Report: BURLESON Texas  In response to the Aug. 31 report by the Railroad Commission of Texas (RCT) that the June 7 explosion of a gas pipeline in southern Johnson County was the result of several violations of state regulations Rep. Orr said This was a horrible tragedy. Anytime there is any chance of potential injury to a person we must be diligent in making sure that every possible safety precaution is in place and followed. The RCT which is charged with oversight of gas drilling and pipeline operations in Texas has ruled that Enterprise Products of Houston and C&H Power Line Construction Company of Dewey OK were responsible for the violations and penalties have been assessed against each company. The Railroad Commission has safety requirements for workers and the operating site Rep. Orr noted. I was proud to support legislation that provided the Commission with the ability to enforce their regulations Rep. Orr said. Without a strong investigation and enforcement mechanism regulations are useless. -more- I commend the Railroad Commission on conducting a thorough investigation and requiring that all violations be resolved in a timely manner. Rep. Orr is serving his third term in the Texas House of Representatives where he serves on the House Select Committee on Government Efficiency and Accountability along with the Committees on Business and Industry Land and Resource Management and Local and Consent Calendars. He is also serving his second term on the House Research Organization. Rep. Orr is a member of the Republican Caucus Policy Committee Community College Caucus and the Independent Conservative Republicans of Texas. He also serves on The Energy Council an international legislative organization that focuses on policies regarding energy and the environment.
