Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – (BURLESON) — State Representative Rob Orr of Burleson was recognized by the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors (GFWAR) with its highest award on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at its annual Awards Luncheon. Rep. Orr was presented the 2013 A.L. Purvis Distinguished Service Award for his extensive service to the Realtor Association and the State of Texas.
In making the presentation, Sherry Matina, CEO of the GFWAR, said, “Rob has brought honor to his family, friends, our Realtor Association and to the State of Texas.”
Rep. Orr began his real estate career in 1978 when he became a second generation Realtor joining his mother and father, Billie & Jim Heffner, in their firm in Burleson. He earned his Broker’s license in 1983 and in 1984 became the broker/owner of Orr & Associates Real Estate.
Throughout his real estate career, Rep. Orr has been actively involved in all aspects of the local, state and national Associations of Realtors. In 1997 he served as President of the GFWAR and a member of the Boards of Directors of both the Texas and National Associations of Realtors. On the state level he was actively involved in the Realtors’ legislative agenda having served as a Trustee of the Texas Realtors Political Action Committee and the first chairman of the Issues Mobilization Committee.
In 2004 Rep. Orr was elected to represent District 58 (Johnson and Bosque Counties) in the Texas House of Representatives and will complete his fifth and final term at the end of 2014. He chose to not seek re-election for the 84th legislative session.
During his tenure in the Texas Legislature he has served on numerous committees including the prestigious Appropriations Committee, Select Committee on Redistricting, chair and vice-chair of the Land and Resource Management Committee and vice-chair of the Business and Industry Committee.
Rep. Orr and his wife, Pam, who is also a Realtor, have five children and seven grandchildren. Orr & Associates Real Estate now boasts a third generation of the family with sons, Michael Langford and James Orr; daughter, Randi Reams, and daughter-in-law, Leslie Orr joining them in the business.
