Host Transportation Town Hall on Proposition 1
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas (BURLESON) -- State Representative Rob Orr of Burleson and the Greater Johnson County Transportation Coalition (GJCTC) are hosting a Transportation Town Hall at 6 p.m. Monday October 13 at Venue 510 in Burleson. The Honorable Joe Pickett of El Paso chairman of the Select Committee on Transportation Funding Expenditures and Finance in the Texas House of Representatives will discuss Proposition 1 a constitutional amendment on the November General Election Ballot dedicated to transportation funding.
Passage of Proposition 1 will generate an estimated $1.4 billion in cash not borrowed funds for public highways in fiscal year 2015 and a like amount each year for many years to come without raising taxes or fees Rep. Orr said. Approval of this constitutional amendment will be a huge first step in getting closer to funding the critical transportation needs we face. I am extremely pleased that Chairman Pickett is coming to District 58 to discuss this important proposition with our voters.
Joshua Mayor Joe Hollarn and chairman of the GJCTC noted that as our state continues to grow and prosper our transportation needs will also intensify. It is important that our citizens educate themselves about this important constitutional amendment. The GJCTC is pleased to join Rep. Orr in offering this educational opportunity.
