Rep. Rob Orr Applauds Unanimous Approval of NTTA to Construct SH 121/Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail Parkway

width=72BURLESON August 18 2010 -- August 18 2010 is a day Johnson County can mark in the history books in the long-awaited approval of an agreement between the Texas Department of Transportation  (TxDOT) and the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) to build the SH 121/Southwest Parkway Chisholm Trail Parkway from Fort Worth to Cleburne State Rep. Rob Orr said. Todays unanimous vote by the NTTA Board of Directors to accept the project as part of the NTTA system provides the go-ahead for this much-needed project to move forward. No doubt there are still more steps to be completed. We have been waiting for NTTA to accept this project and now they have. I applaud all entities in working out an agreement in a team effort to build the first project in the western part of the region. This indicates the strength of this regional project Rep. Orr said. This legacy project will help define Johnson County as our county continues to grow and develop Rep. Orr said. The potential for economic development and increased ease in traveling between Johnson and Tarrant Counties will enhance the quality of life of all our citizens. SH 121/Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail Parkway will run from Fort Worths central business district to U.S. 67 in Cleburne. In February of this year groundbreaking ceremonies were held in Cleburne and Fort Worth to begin construction on interchanges that will connect with SH 121/Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail Parkway. When historians look back at the innovative agreements between TxDOT and NTTA that have brought this project forward they will note that in the year 2010 transportation took a giant leap forward in Johnson County Rep. Orr said. I am honored to have worked with all our elected leaders TxDOT and NTTA to enable todays actions to occur. I can now see the day in 2013 that we will be driving on the much needed roadway.  Linking the SH 161 and SH 121 Southwest Parkway/Chisholm Trail Parkway projects in essence means that both projects have begun Rep. Orr said. This major transportation thoroughfare has been a long time in coming. It is a major project for my district and I am excited to see the partnership that has been forged between NTTA Texas Department of Transportation and the Regional Transportation Council that has brought about todays momentous vote.
