Rep. Rob Orr Appointed to House Select Committee on Government Efficiency & Accountability

rob-orr3BURLESON Today State Rep. Rob Orr (R-Burleson) has been appointed to the House Select Committee on Government Efficiency and Accountability by House Speaker Joe Straus (R-San Antonio). The committee will review and make recommendations for eliminating inefficiencies in state government. The committee will also look for best practices in purchasing state goods and services and review the advantages and disadvantages of privatization. Texans deserve a government that makes the most effective and efficient use of limited tax dollars"  said Speaker Straus.   This committee will review our current operations look at best practices and recommend ways that state government can improve transparency and deliver better services at lower costs."  I am honored that Speaker Straus has appointed me to serve on this prestigious select committee Rep. Orr said. As a fiscal conservative I believe it is important that the State of Texas routinely review its operations and look for ways to be better stewards of our citizens monies. I look forward to working with my colleagues and Speaker Straus as we study these important areas. Speaker Straus appointed Rep. Pete Gallego (D-Alpine) to chair the committee and Rep. John Davis (R-Houston) to serve as vice chair.    The committee members include Representatives Alma Allen (D-Houston) Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio) Dawnna Dukes (D-Austin) Kelly Hancock (R-North Richland Hills) Tim Kleinschmidt (R-Lexington) Rob Orr (R-Burleson) Diane Patrick (R-Arlington) Chente Quintanilla (D-Tornillo) and Burt Solomons (R-Carrollton). Rep. Rob Orr is serving his third term in the Texas House of Representatives where he serves on the Business and Industry Land and Resource Management and Local and Consent Calendars Committees. He is also serving his second term on the House Research Organization. Rep. Orr is an active member of the Republican Caucus Policy Committee and the Texas Conservative Coalition.
