Texas Insider Report: SAN MARCOS Texas
Democratic incumbent Rep. Patrick Rose has launched a series of attack ads against his Republican challenger Jason Isaac. Does this indicate a telling fear on Roses behalf or is it just a sure sign of early fall in the Texas Hill Country? (Watch video)
The House District 45 race south of Austin is to represent Hays Caldwell & Blanco Counties in the state House of Representatives.
And it is what is not being said by Rose that has at least some political watchers in in Austin & its neighboring districts watching.
We have to crack down on illegal immigrants ..." says Rose in one of his ads.
In other ads Democrat Rose seems to take a page right out of the Republican play book Raising the sales tax on hard-working families seniors and small businesses wont attract jobs to Texas.
It all comes in stark contrast to previous Rose campaigns according to Texas State University Political Science Lecturer Rick Henderson who believes growth and change along the I-35 corridor is fueling Roses change in tack.
Many of those new voters have Republican leanings anyway and were in an atmosphere where theres a lot of attacking & negative attention toward the government so why not jump on board" Henderson said.
Both Issac who raised more financial support prior to Labor Day than any of Roses previous opponents raised during their entire campaigns and Rose will have to wait until November 2nd to see if voters are on board ... and for who.
