Rep. Vaught to Joint Jersey Mikes to Help Wipe Out Kids Cancer

allen-vaughtDALLAS--Tomorrow March 12 2010 State Representative Allen Vaught will participate in Jersey Mikes Wipe Out Kids Cancer Day" to support pediatric cancer research. Representative Vaught will work at the Jersey Mikes Subs location at 5521 Greenville Avenue in Dallas from 11am-2pm.   Jersey Mikes partnered with Wipes Out Kids Cancer in early February and donated $0.25 to $0.50 for every regular or giant sub sold. For the grand finale on March 12th Jersey Mikes will invite the community to come enjoy a free regular size sub as long as they make a minimum donation of $1.00. All proceeds will benefit Wipe Out Kids Cancer. Representative Vaught will serve as one of the special guests volunteering at the Greenville Avenue location and will help with cleaning the lobby filling drinks opening doors and thanking the community for their support. Vaught said What an exciting opportunity we have to not only support a wonderful organization that funds pediatric cancer research but to support our local businesses and community. For almost thirty years Wipe Out Kids Cancer has invested in pediatric cancer research and enriched the lives of childhood cancer patients and their families.  Cancer remains the number one disease killer of American children with 46 children being diagnosed everyday with cancer. At Wipe Out Kids Cancer their vision is for a day when children are living…cancer free! Wipe Out Kids Cancer works directly with Childrens Medical Center in Dallas to implement monthly special events for selected children and their families as the children undergo cancer treatment.  Their Buddy Bag" program provides every child cancer patient admitted to Childrens with the necessities for a lengthy hospital stay. Additionally Wipe Out Kids Cancer funds the full- time Spanish translator at Childrens and administers the Young Heroes Scholarship Program funded by Texas Rangers Infielder Michael Young and Cristina Barbosa-Young. Rep. Vaught represents District 107 in East Dallas surrounding White Rock Lake including Lakewood and part of Lake Highlands. The eastern portion of the district covers parts of Garland and Mesquite. He lives with his wife Donna their son Jonathan and daughter Morgan in Lakewood.
