Representative Flynn Elected to the NCSL Executive Committee

dan-flynnTexas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  At the annual National Conference of State Legislative Summit in Minneapolis MN Representative Dan Flynn was elected to serve on the 2014-2015 National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Executive Committee. The states face many challenges in maintaining a strong legislative institution and the role of the States in our federal system and Representative Flynn brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to the board. Dan Flynn will be serving his seventh term in the 84th Texas legislative session representing House District 2 where he has gained a reputation as a strong fighter for the values of limited government fiscal responsibility and family values. Flynn said It is a great honor to continue service with the NCSL and to serve on the 2014-2015 Executive Committee. Representative Flynn is a native Texan who serves House District 2 which includes Hunt Hopkins and Van Zandt Counties. Flynns leadership reflects his dedication to preserving a strong legislative institution and representing the interests of his districts and all of Texas. In addition to serving as Co-Chairman of the House Select Committee on Transparency in State Agency Operations in the current session the Texas native also served as Vice Chair of the House Committee on Investments and Financial Services and as a member of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Public Safety. He also is currently serving as a Colonel in the Texas State Guard. The guidance and effort of the Executive Committee is essential in maintaining and advancing NCSL as the premier organization representing and supporting state legislatures. The Executive Committee serves as the Board of NCSL. The National Conference of State Legislatures is the bipartisan organization that serves the legislators and staffs of the states commonwealths and territories. Representative Flynn has been an active member in NCSL serving on the International Relations Task Force as well serving on the Committee for Communications and Investments. Also in October 2012 he was appointed co-chairman of the NCSL Military and Veterans Affairs Task Force. Representative Flynn will continue to provide great service to and for Texas by contributing to policy innovations as well as using his vast experience in the Texas legislature to be an essential member of the NCSL Executive Committee. House Speaker Joe Straus said Representative Flynn provides valuable leadership in the Texas House and will do the same for NCSL. This role will allow him to engage with leaders of other states about effective policy solutions which will benefit his colleagues and the Texans he represents.
