Gov. Perry to join renowned economist Laffer for unveiling of report

width=65width=64AUSTIN – The Texas Public Policy Foundation will release a report on the economic policies of California and Texas and how they affect each state’s prospects for growth at an Austin luncheon on Tuesday September 9th.

Texas and California are the two economic heavyweights of the United States.  These two states host the corporate headquarters of 110 of this year’s Fortune 500 companies and contribute almost 22 of the United States’ gross domestic product.  The stakes in this economic rivalry are high yet the economic policies these states pursue are vastly different.

The Foundation commissioned Dr. Arthur Laffer – internationally renowned economist key advisor to President Reagan and the “Father of Supply Side Economics” – to produce the report “Competitive States: Texas v. California Economic Growth Prospects for the 21st Century.”  The September 9th luncheon will feature Dr. Laffer’s presentation of the report findings followed by remarks from Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
