Riddle to Head Criminal Justice Subcommittee

Published: 02-19-09 width=65AUSTIN - Representative Debbie Riddle was named as the chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Criminal Justice today. The subcommittee is responsible for generating the reports that will appropriate funds to the states judiciary and public safety agencies. The protection and wellbeing of the people of Texas is my number one priority and our system of criminal justice cannot function without proper funding Riddle said. I am honored to be chairing the committee and I am dedicated to doing whatever it takes to make sure our courts and our law enforcement officials have the tools they need to do their jobs.  Additionally Riddle was named to the Hurricane Subcommittee for Appropriations. The committee will examine issues related to the recovery efforts from Hurricane Ike. Riddle previously served on the Select Committee for Hurricane Ike Devastation. Riddle is serving her second consecutive term on Appropriations and her fourth consecutive term on the Criminal Jurisprudence committee. She served as vice-chair of Criminal Jurisprudence for two sessions and also sits on the Joint Select Committee on the Operation and Management of the Texas Youth Commission. She was a member of the Appropriations Criminal Justice Subcommittee last session.
