(Georgetown Texas) Milton Rister today announced he will form a committee to explore the opportunity to run for state representative for House District 20. He filed his paperwork and is beginning the process of meeting with people to discuss his goals for the district.
Williamson County is one of the fastest growing areas in the state and concerns about taxes transportation and voter fraud are all issues at the forefront of peoples minds here" Rister said.
When and if the opportunity arises the people of Williamson County will need a leader who can address the needs of the community head-on at the Legislature. My years of experience with the legislative process and my intimate knowledge of this district make me the right person for the job."
Rister grew up on a farm east of Walburg Texas and has worked in Republican politics for more than 20 years. In the early nineties he helped begin the process to elect a Republican majority in the Texas House of Representatives. Rister served as Senator Jane Nelsons chief-of-staff during the 75th Legislature.
In 2003 Lt. Governor David Dewhurst hired Rister as his Director of Research where he helped the Lt. Governor and his senior staff develop policies that affected every aspect of the state.
In 2004 Rister temporarily took the position of Executive Director of the Republican Party of Texas to assist in the 2004 Elections and the National Convention.
After leaving the Party he went back to serve as a senior advisor to the Lt. Governor. For the past three-and-a-half years Rister was the Executive Director of the Texas Legislative Council the agency that provides bill drafting research computing and document distribution to the Legislature.
