Rodney Anderson Endorses Hancock in SD 9 Race

width=71width=72Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas -- State Representative Rodney Anderson today announced his endorsement of Kelly Hancocks campaign for State Senate District 9.  Representative Anderson makes his endorsement less than a week after withdrawing from the race. Voters in this community have a clear choice" Anderson said.  While I like and respect both men they have very different positions on an issue that is crucial to creating jobs in Texas.  That issue is increasing gasoline taxes.  Kelly Hancock opposes any increase in the gas tax.  One of the biggest threats facing our economic recovery are high fuel prices and any increase in the gasoline tax will intensify this problem. The energy policy of our current President is already raising prices by cutting American production. We dont need the State of Texas adding to the burden facing families at the pump by increasing taxes.  It is such a clear-cut decision for Republicans in this race that I am enthusiastically endorsing Kelly Hancock." In response to the endorsement from Anderson Representative Hancock said Rodney Anderson has been a good effective representative for the people of Grand Prairie and Irving and I am honored to have his endorsement. Rodney understands that I will fight for conservative values like low taxes. We must protect Texas families and businesses by promoting a strong economy and more job creation in our state." Andersons endorsement follows that of Empower Texans made earlier this week. The design of Senate District 9 favors Hancock whose current State House district is wholly included within the new Senate districts confines. In addition it includes Southlake the Tarrant County portion of Westlake Euless and Keller along with sections of Hurst Bedford Arlington Irving and Grand Prairie. Hancock elected to the Texas House in 2006 is Chairman of the Republican Caucus Policy Committee. He has garnered significant support in this campaign and has been recognized for his efforts in the Legislature.  He has been named Legislator of the Year by the Texas Fire Chiefs Association received the Katie Sherrod Advocacy Award for advocating for victims of domestic violence was named Champion for Free Enterprise by the Texas Association of Business and a Taxpayer Hero by Texans for Fiscal Responsibility.  Prior to his service in the Texas Legislature Hancock spent 13 years on the Birdville ISD School Board including serving as board president. He owns Advanced Chemical Logistics a family-founded chemical distribution company. Kelly and his wife Robin have been married 24 years and have three children.
