Texas U.S. Senate Candidate Roger Williams held the first super-sized fundraiser any candidate has held in the election to succeed Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison in the U.S. Senate.
More than 400 guests crowded into the star-studded event at Roger and Patty Williams Parker County Ranch Saturday and contributed more than $400000 to the Roger for U.S. Senate Campaign. The Ranch is 20 miles west of Fort Worth in Weatherford Texas.
The event featured appearances by Dallas Cowboy legends Bob Lilly and Rayfield Wright as well as famed broadcaster Pat Summeral and National Football Foundation President Steve Hatchell. Fellow Horned Frogs Danny Morrison TCU Athletics Director Jim Schlossnagle TCU Baseball Coach and Jim Christian TCU Basketball Coach were also there to show their support. Also addressing the crowd were former Secretary of the Navy Gordon England Congresswoman Kay Granger and Boxing Promoter Don King. Emceeing the event was nationally famous talk show host Mark Davis.
This event sent a message to all Texans -- Democrats and Republicans -- that Republicans are back said Williams. I have not seen Republicans so excited about an election in years. There was so much enthusiasm energy and optimism that hundreds of people lingered at the ranch long after the event had ended and long past sundown on the summer evening. Attendees shared the feeling that they had witnessed the beginning of something very special.
This event was one of the final major events in the exploratory phase of my campaign. In this phase I am testing the water said Williams. Based on what I saw on Saturday the water is just right for diving in.
