Schwertner supports prolife issues including the sonogram bill" which he coauthored
Texas Insider Report: GEORGETOWN Texas Texas Alliance for Life PAC one of the states leading pro‐life organizations has announced their endorsement of State Rep.
Charles Schwertner (R-Georgetown) in his campaign for State Senate District 5.
Schwertner is currently State Representative for House District 20 (Williamson & Milam counties) and is running for the seat held by retiring Sen. Steve Ogden who announced late last year that he would not seek reelection.
As a Christian conservative and defender of life I am proud to have worked with Texas Alliance for Life as a co‐author of the sonogram bill" and I am honored to receive their endorsement in my campaign for State Senate" said Schwertner.
As a member of the State Senate I will continue to work closely with the pro‐life community to protect the sanctity of life."
According to a letter from Joe Pojman Executive Director for Texas Alliance for Life PAC the endorsement was based on your support for pro‐life issues that are a top priority for Texas Alliance for Life."
The letter also cites last sessions major accomplishments which include the sonogram bill" the defunding of abortion providers and choose life license plates.
In addition to his leadership on pro‐life and pro‐family issues last session Schwertner served as an active member of the House Committee on
Appropriations where he helped write and pass a balanced state budget without raising taxes.
Other accomplishments include passing a resolution calling for a federal balanced budget amendment co‐authoring and passing the states new voter ID law co‐authoring and passing landmark private property rights legislation passing stronger border security measures passing loser pays" tort reform legislation and strengthening 2nd amendment and gun owner rights.

Dr. Schwertner resides in Georgetown Texas with his wife Belinda (a local OB/GYN) and their three young sons. Charles is a local orthopedic surgeon and small business owner with medical practices in the district providing annual care to over 20000 local patients.
The son of a farmer and rancher Schwertner has six generations of farming and ranching roots in Senate District 5 and is a lifelong conservative Republican and NRA member.
