Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Senator Charles Schwertner (R-Georgetown) and members of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services will be holding a press conference on Wednesday February 11 in the Lt. Governors Press Room (2E.9) to discuss new legislation designed to increase the states level of preparedness in responding to infectious disease threats.
The legislation was developed based on recommendations drawn from the Texas Task Force on Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response a team of experts assembled by then-Governor Rick Perry in response to three confirmed diagnoses of Ebola at Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas late last year. Dr. Brett P. Giroir who serves as Director of the task force and CEO of the Texas A&M Health Science Center will also be in attendance and will be available to answer any questions.
Members of the press are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to allow time to set up recording equipment.
