Brig. Gen. William Grimsley to address Austin Economic Club Distinguished Lecture Series"

In celebration of Veterans Day November 11th and to learn more about how the past weeks events are impacting the citizens of Central Texas

Economic Club is honored to present the 2nd ranking officer at Fort Hood Brigadier General William F. Grimsley Deputy Commander of the III Phantom" Corps headquartered at Fort Hood Texas at its regular bi-monthly meeting Wednesday morning.
As Deputy Commanding General of the III Corps Command Group at Ft. Hood he oversees the largest Military Installation in the U.S. home of the largest Armored Force in the U.S. Army.
During the Cold War IIIrd Corps was the main counter attack command against the Soviets and figured prominently in the Gulf War and both Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns. In fact it was troops assigned to the IIIrd Corps 4th Infantry Division that captured Saddam Hussein.
General Grimsley just returned from his 3rd extended tour in Iraq most recently as the Deputy Commanding General of the Corps 4th Infantry Division will address the Austin Economic Club at 8:00am on Wednesday November 11 2009.
The breakfast event will be held at the downtown Sheraton Austin Hotel at the Capitol 701 E. 11th @ IH 35 North.
Brigadier General Grimsley a Silver Star recipient brings extensive & impeccable military background credentials including key commands in Iraq Korea Germany and as the U.S. Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense to his position.
Fort Hood has been the permanent home of the IIIrd Corps since 1961. Nicknamed the Phantom Corps" IIIrd Corps controls the majority of the U.S. Armys heavy Armor Units which include the:
- 1st Cavalry Division
- 1st Armored Division
- 4th Infantry Division
- 1st Infantry Division
- Armored Cavalry and
- Air Cavalry Brigades.
