Cruz: It Must be Defunded and Repealed
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today released the following statement regarding Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius’ visit to Texas to promote Obamacare:
As Sec. Sebelius brings her Obamacare promotion tour to Texas, to try to convince our citizens that Obamacare really isn’t as bad as we already know it is, I hope she will take the time to hear from Texans who will bear the brunt of this destructive legislation.
She should hear from the Texas job creators who are facing tough decisions to cut employer hours in order to keep business going and those who simply can’t afford to expand their business. She should hear from Texas families, especially young Texans, who could lose their current health coverage and see their health insurance premiums increase. She should hear from Texas lawmakers, who overwhelmingly voted against expanding Medicaid because they understand that no good comes from putting more people into a broken health care system.
If Obamacare is bad enough to delay the pain for big corporations and give a break to members of Congress and their staffs, and too complicated to ensure that people seeking taxpayer-funded subsides are actually eligible for them, then we need to simply do away with it.
Instead, the Administration continues to glaze over the fundamental problems of the law. But Texans know better, they want Obamacare defunded and repealed. I am committed to working with my colleagues in Congress to do just that. We can win this fight if the American people stand up and demand it of their elected officials.
