Social Services Block Grant Funding Granted to the State

width=65WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) Texas’ senior Senator today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is releasing $219 million to the State of Texas in Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) funding.

HHS is releasing the funding from the $22 billion Disaster Supplemental that passed late last year.

“This significant funding will help provide health services to Texans and assist our institutions like UTMB recover from the recent devastating hurricanes” said Sen. Hutchison. 

According to HHS SSBG funds are expected to provide individuals and families with customary social services and health services (including mental health services) and assist states in the repair renovation and construction of health care and mental health facilities child care centers and other social service facilities.
