Bipartisan Group of 20 Senators Will Work to Support Military Families

Caring for the needs of those who have fought for our nation as well as their families is one of Congresss most important responsibilities" said U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) today in announcing the formation of the Senate Military Family Caucus.
The Senate Military Family Caucus will be a bipartisan group of 20 senators that focus on issues facing the families of active and veteran service men and women.
U.S. Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Richard Burr (R-NC) will co-chair the caucus Sen. Hutchison said.
The Senate Military Family Caucus understands that when American military personnel are stationed away from home or are fighting in harms way their loved ones join in the sacrifice. Together members of this caucus will work to ensure that the unique needs and challenges of military families such as childcare education and employment are not only recognized but met."
The Senate Military Family Caucus will work closely with the recently formed House Congressional Military Family Caucus to improve programs and services for military families and to focus on the unique and growing challenges they face. The Caucus aims to substantively address issues including childcare education employment health care and the effects of multiple deployments on the mental health and well-being of spouses caregivers and children.
