Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas State Senator Larry Taylor (R Friendswood) was appointed by Lt. Governor Dan Patrick as the new Chairman of the Senate Public Education Committee. Senator Taylor was also reappointed as a member of the Senate Business & Commerce Committee.
Taylor said Im honored by this appointment and I look forward to continuing to bring education into the 21
st century. Governor Abbott and Lt. Governor Patrick have recently emphasized their commitment to improving the public education system in Texas and I am proud to join them in making education a top priority this session."
Taylor served on the Senate Education Committee during the 83
rd Session of the Texas Legislature. He added The time has come for greater accountability and productivity in our childrens education. I intend to look for solutions wherever they may be found and will explore new and innovative ways to enhance our ability to deliver an effective education."
Senator Taylors reappointment as a member of the Senate Business and Commerce Committee will allow him to remain at the forefront of an issue of vital importance to his legislative district reforming the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA). Taylor added Serving on the committee overseeing TWIA reform will provide an excellent seat at the table for the ongoing reform efforts. The Texas Gulf Coast is the heart and soul of the Texas economy and I intend to preserve our economic stability. The Business & Commerce Committee is at the forefront in studying proposals to improve Texas as an economic engine.
Sen. Larry Taylor represents Senate District 11 comprised of parts of Brazoria Galveston and Harris Counties. Before his election to the Texas Senate in 2012 Sen. Taylor served five terms in the Texas House of Representatives.
