See Poll Summary Results below. width=274Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas As Texas State Senator Dan Patrick continues to explore the prospect of running for the Texas Senate seat soon be contested as Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison retires Patricks Exploratory Committee released the results of a statewide poll it conducted last weekend.   I am very encouraged by the statewide poll we conducted as part of our exploratory effort as well as the response I have received from individuals across the state said Patrick.  The statewide poll of 450 likely Republican voters conducted by the firm of Dresner Wickers Barber Sanders affirmed that Patrick has solid statewide name identification as well as the reputation for having a conservative legislative record that could propel him to national office. Included in the poll along with Senator Patrick were already declared Republican Candidates:
  1. Ted Cruz
  2. Elizabeth Ames Jones
  3. Tom Leppert and
  4. Roger Williams
The polls results show the following:
  • Dan Patrick would start his race for the United States Senate with a significant lead over the other announced candidates.
  • Dan Patrick enjoys a double digit lead over all the announced Republican candidates among tea party and conservative voters.
  • Dan Patrick would easily defeat Ted Cruz in a runoff for the United States Senate.
width=71As I carefully work through this process there are many questions I still must answer.  But this poll confirms that I would be the conservative front runner if I announce for the United States Senate said Patrick.
Senator Patrick hopes to make his decision about running for the United States Senate this summer. / width=625
