Working on this shift in the Texas Senate is going to be a lot of fun.
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas State Senator Paul Bettencourt (R-Houston) has released the following statement concerning his appointment by Lt. Governor Dan Patrick to serve on four of the most important committees in the Texas Senate - Finance Education Higher Education and Intergovernmental Relations as Vice Chair.
I am very humbled by my appointments. I am especially honored to be named to the Senate Committee on Finance as this is the first time in over a decade that a freshman Senator has been appointed to this committee. I am also honored to be named Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations which handles the critical matters of how Texas governments work with each other. Additionally our committees on education will be facing some of the biggest challenges weve dealt with in decades with the school finance lawsuit pending and with higher education tuition reform needed.
Id like to also offer congratulatory words to my fellow freshman Senator Charles Perry (R-Lubbock) for his Chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Water and Rural Affairs and to all of the other freshman Senators on their important committee appointments and Vice Chairmanships. We all look forward to working with the more senior Senators on critical issues to all Texans. Lt. Governor Dan Patrick did a great job of putting together a fine leadership team for the Texas Senate.
