. . . I am grateful to have worked with many of you to make our state a better place to live learn and retire for our children and for our grandchildren. . .
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas At the Texas Capitol today State Senator Leticia Van de Putte bid farewell to her fellow Senators after 24 years of service to the people of San Antonio Bexar County and Texas. Excerpts of her remarks:
We are all so very blessed to be a part of a legacy of service blazed long ago in this most deliberative body. The Texas senate is the place where we work hard to find common ground despite our political differences.
We are family here and we are family here forever. We are united in this most sacred chamber in times of ecstatic joy and in times of the deepest personal sorrow. My Senate brothers and sisters have held me Pete and our family up and for that I am eternally grateful.
Over the past 24 years I have seen the civility and humanity of this legislature prevail during the toughest of times … I have seen how people of integrity and commitment can accomplish incredible feats.
I am grateful to have worked with many of you to make our state a better place to live learn and retire for our children and for our grandchildren.
Together we have crafted many great policies but we also know that these great feats take more than just us; we would not have had such great successes if not for the hidden wiring of the Senate our hardworking staff…. Members receive the acclaim but our staff also brave the long hours and sleepless nights in service to Texas.
Finally nothing is possible without the confidence of the people in my hometown of San Antonio. I thank my fellow San Antonians for allowing me the privilege and honor to have been their voice here at our beloved Capitol for almost a quarter of a century."
