Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Senate Cancer Coalition Chairmen Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today announced
the coalition will hold a forum on Tuesday June 19 at 10 a.m. on the current state of breast cancer treatment and prevention.
Scientific advances mean breast cancer treatment is no longer a one-size-fits-all approach. A panoply of surgical and pharmaceutical options are now available for treatment and new advances in prevention and genetic testing have led to more personalized treatment plans.
WHO:
- Barbara Wold is Advisor to the National Cancer Institutes Director on cancer genomics research. She is on sabbatical from the California Institute of Technology where she is the Bren Professor of molecular biology and directs the schools Beckman Institute.
- Frank McCormick is President of the American Association for Cancer Research and Director of the University of California San Francisco Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.
- Leslie Bernstein is Director of the Division of Cancer Etiology at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center.
- Ana Maria Gonzalez-Angulo is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas.
- Zora Brown is a three-time cancer survivor.
