WASHINGTON—U.S. Sen. John Cornyn R-Texas Vice Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference made the following statement Wednesday regarding unanimous Senate passage of a resolution S. Res. 522 recognizing the 60th anniversary of the founding of the modern State of Israel.
The bipartisan resolution co-sponsored by Sen. Cornyn also reaffirms the bonds of close friendship and cooperation between the United States and Israel. It passed late Tuesday. Click here for the full text.
“Israel and America have a strong friendship that spans oceans and is based on shared values. This resolution reaffirms our commitment to preserving and strengthening that alliance.
“In the face of common threats our relationship today is as important as ever. We have mutual goals of defeating radical Islamic terrorism fostering Middle East stability and promoting freedom.
“Israel has shown an unwavering belief in democracy justice security and peace. They deserve not only our friendship and support but our admiration. I extend my warmest congratulations to the State of Israel and the Israeli people for their upcoming anniversary.”
