Senator Hutchison Responds to the State of the Union

I dont think class warfare is an American value. width=137Texas Insider Report: Washington DC Last night U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) responded to President Obamas State of the Union Address. Below is a transcript of her remarks or to watch her video comments. After three years of national economic turmoil the President tonight once again -- failed to address the fundamental solutions that would help get Americans back to work.    The facts are both stark and clear:  More than 13 million Americans are jobless our national debt has surpassed the size of our Gross National Product and tragically there are 46 million Americans living in poverty. According to recent polls nearly 70 of Americans believe our country is headed in the wrong direction.  And yet the President refuses to change course.  Just last week he failed to approve the construction of the Keystone pipeline which would produce badly needed jobs and enhance our energy security as well as deliver 700000 barrels of oil daily to Texas refineries. Incredibly today marks the 1000th day that the Senate has failed to put forward a federal budget. This is a terrible precedent for a country desiring fiscal accountability and constructive debate from Washington says Hutchison.              I commend the President for his work on behalf of the three free trade agreements that we passed last year.  Tonight he mentioned capital formation legislation which is a welcome topic.  I have talked to small business people throughout our state and they want the ability to form capital without going through onerous regulations and the President tonight has recommended increased domestic drilling. Well we need more drilling thats for sure but we also need the pipeline that will give us cheaper energy. We need to change course and we need the kind of bipartisan cooperation that we can do by lowering the regulatory burden on capital formation by doing more drilling and building a pipeline. Tonight the President mentioned American values. I dont think class warfare is an American value. In fact dividing America will only hinder our economic recovery and our nations entrepreneurial spirit.  We must work together to reverse the policies that have left millions of Americans jobless and unable to provide for their families.
