WASHINGTON D.C. U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) released the following statement on President Obamas proposed new stimulus plan following his remarks today at the Brookings Institution:
We cannot spend our way out of this recession as President Obama has promised. Given the mismanagement and waste seen in the Democrats stimulus bill I have little reason to believe his new second stimulus plan would be any different. At a time when the federal deficit is on the rise the return of TARP funds should be used as Congress was promised it would be used: to reduce our national debt" Senator Hutchison said.
Today during his speech about the current economic climate President Obama said Even as we have had to spend our way out of this recession in the near term we have begun to make the hard choices necessary to get our country on a more stable fiscal footing in the long run."
