Sessions Statement on Texas Rising Unemployment in June

pete-sessions2Washington DC Congressman Pete Sessions (TX-32) today released the following statement regarding Texas unemployment rate accelerating to 7.5 percent in June: Despite Texas remarkable economic foundation of pro-growth low-tax policies for job creation escalating job loss across the state shows that the national recession is taking its toll on Texas families and small businesses. In North Texas alone unemployment spiked from 7.1 percent in May to 8.2 percent in June forcing thousands of Texas families to face the harsh realities of unemployment as they struggle to makes ends meet. As job loss increases Texans have watched their hard-earned tax dollars used to fund President Obamas trillion dollar stimulus plan that has failed to create jobs turn around the economy or save our children and grandchildren from an additional trillion dollars in national debt.  As Washington continues the failed policies of tax borrow and spend more Texans are asking: Where are the jobs?" Note: Texas lost 40600 jobs in June bringing a net loss of 266300 Texas jobs in the past 12 months. Unemployment rose from 7.1 percent in May to 7.5 percent in June according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
