Settles Appointed Presiding Officer State Board of Examiners of Psychologists

Appoints four new board members
 
width=65AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry appointed Carl Settles of Harker Heights as presiding officer of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists for a term to expire at the pleasure of the governor.  He also appointed four new members to the board which regulates the practice of psychology in Texas.

Settles a retired U.S. Army Colonel is owner of Settles Counseling Services and former director of Behavioral Health Activity at Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood. He served on the board of the National Register of Health Providers in Psychology and Cedar Crest Hospital. Settles is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and served as an APA Congressional Science Fellow.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from Prairie View A&M University and a doctorate degree in counseling psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.  Settles replaces Pauline Clancy of Houston.

Jo Ann Campbell of Abilene is a licensed specialist in school psychology for the Abilene Independent School District. She is past president and secretary-treasurer of the Abilene Psychological Association and a charter member of Texas Association for School Psychologists where she served as chair of public information and relations and area representative. She is also a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education. Campbell earned a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in psychology and education from Abilene Christian University. She replaces Ruben Rendon of Dallas for a term to expire Oct. 31 2011.
 
Timothy Branaman of Dallas is a practicing psychologist and associate professor at Argosy University. He is past president of the Dallas Psychological Association and Collin County Psychological Association and an American Academy of Forensic Psychologists fellow. He is a member of the Texas Psychological Association American Psychological Association and American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. He also serves as forensic services coordinator for the Center for Survivors of Torture. Branaman earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin master’s degree from the University of North Texas and doctorate degree from Texas A&M University Commerce formerly East Texas State University. He replaces Arthur Hernandez of San Antonio for a term to expire Oct. 31 2013.
 
Lou Ann Todd Mock of Bellaire is a licensed specialist in school psychology and an associate professor at Baylor College of Medicine. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Texas Psychological Association.  She is also a staff psychologist for DePelchin Children’s Center.  She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa and a master’s and doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the University of Houston.  Mock replaces Pauline Clansy of Houston for a term to expire Oct. 31 2013.
 
Angela A. Downes of Irving is an attorney and national program manager for Mothers Against Drunk Driving Court Monitoring Program. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas American Bar Association and National Bar Association. Downes serves on the board of Texas Wesleyan University and The Greenhill School and is member of the J.L. Turner Legal Association.  She earned a bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and law degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law. Downes replaces Betty Angelo of Midland for a term to expire Oct. 31 2013.
