Sid Miller: EPA Security Breach Needs Congressional Investigation

Farmers & ranchers, families home address, phone numbers, GPS coordinates at risk.

Miller, Sid for Ag.Comm.1-27-14aTexas Insider Report: STEPHENVILLE, Texas – “Saying sorry is not enough,” says Texas Republican Agriculture Commissioner Candidate Sid Miller, the former Texas House Agriculture & Livestock Committee, as well as a Homeland Security & TXseal-EPAPublic Safety Committee Chairman late last week, pointing to an EPA security breach of 10’s of 1,000’s of Texans, that the agency later acknowledged should never have been provided, and even asked the recipients to give it back.

Miller called on Congressional leaders to immediately begin an investigation into the matter.

“Not only has the EPA violated the public trust, it has created unwarranted intrusion into the private lives of American citizens that could lead to the destruction of private property, as well as the potential loss of life,” said Miller.

“This is an extremely serious security breech, and as such I am calling on our Congressional leaders to immediately investigate the matter to ensure that proper steps are taken to mitigate the risk to those whose personal information has been compromised, as well to prevent such a security breach from ever occurring again,” Miller added.

Sid Miller, Police Officers Memorial Service 2012Miller sent letters to Rep. Frank D. Lucas (R-OK), the Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture, and to Rep. Michael McCaul, (R-TX), the Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, asking them to begin an immediate investigation into the security breech in which the EPA improperly released personal information on up to 100,000 agriculture industry workers, including their home address and phone numbers, GPS coordinates and even personal medical histories.

The information could be used by eco-terrorists to destroy property and put the lives of farmers, ranchers, and their families at risk, said the former Chairman of the Texas House Agriculture and Livestock Committee, as well as the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee.

Miller said that it has been documented that a number of large farms and cattle processing facilities have been targeted in the past by militant groups who believe they are cruel to animals and cause pollution. These so-called sid miller9“eco-terrorists” have caused millions of dollars of damages.

He said that armed with the type of information released by the EPA, these violent and radical environmentalists could wreak havoc upon farms, ranches, and other agricultural facilities across the United States.

Miller said that EPA officials have told those affected by the security breech that they were sorry for the release of their personal information.

“Saying sorry is not enough,” said Miller.

“These farmers and ranchers deserve to know exactly what steps the EPA and other federal agencies will take to ensure that they are protected from the actions of radical and dangerous eco-terrorists who may be in receipt of their personal information. It Sid Miller for Agriculture Commissioneris sad day when our own federal government needlessly puts its citizens in harm’s way,” concluded Miller.

The agency later acknowledged much of the information should never have been provided, and even asked and even asked the recipients to give it back.
