Smith Rejects DOJ Plans to Push Amnesty Executive Actions

lamar.smith3Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas (San Antonio) - It comes as no surprise that the most partisan and imposing Department of Justice of our time would rush to defend the presidents lawless actions" said Cong. Lamar Smith (R-TX) following Fridays announcement by the Obama administrations that it will seek an emergency court order to move forward with implementation of the presidents executive actions on immigration that were announced last November.  Putting a stop to these overreaching executive actions isnt about Republicans or Democrats; its about respecting and restoring the rule of law" said Smith. This is why its even more important that Senate Democrats stop playing politics with the Constitution and stop blocking House legislation that would halt the presidents executive overreach." Todays announcement comes on the heels of a Texas judges injunction <http://lamarsmith.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/smith-welcomes-court-order-halting-executive-actions-on-immigration>  issued earlier this week that effectively halted implementation of President Obamas sweeping and unprecedented executive actions on immigration. Smith recently voted to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security while defunding the presidents executive actions <http://lamarsmith.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/smith-votes-to-defund-president-s-executive-actions> . He has also supported a Texas-led 26-state lawsuit <http://lamarsmith.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/smith-statement-in-support-of-texas-led-lawsuit-challenging-executive>  and joined 169 other members of Congress <http://lamarsmith.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/house-republicans-to-senate-democrats-stop-playing-politics-with-the>  in sending a letter last week urging Senate Democrats to pass the House legislation.
