This list is in addition to his endorsements from over two thirds of the Republican members of the Texas Legislature.

Smitherman was appointed to the Railroad Commission in July 2011 and is a 2012 Republican candidate for election to the unexpired term. A fourth generation Texan he served at the Public Utility Commission from 2004-2011. At the PUC he established himself as a strong free-market conservative and proponent of a consistent and predictable regulatory environment.
An active primary voter volunteer donor and past GOP Convention Delegate Smitherman has been working in and around Republican politics for 30 years.
