Speaker Joe Straus (San Antonio) after Wednesdays 130-16 House vote in favor of putting a Constitutional Amendment on Novembers Ballot to provide for the creation of the State Water Implementation Fund.
Authored by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Tommy Williams (R-Houston right) and carried in the House by Appropriations Committee Chair Jim Pitts (R-Waco) and Allan Ritter (
R-Nederland) chair of the Natural Resources Committtee Senate Joint Resolution 1 (SJR 1) is the legislative vehicle to provide for should the Constitutional Amendment be approved by Texas voters creation of the State Water Implementation Fund for Texas.
I would also assist in the financing of priority projects in the state water plan.
The House took an important step today toward securing the reliable water supply needed for continued economic growth. I want to thank Members for their work on these critical priorities."
