Speaker Straus Donates $150000 Toward Protecting Texas GOP Super-Majority

width=134Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Texas House Speaker Joe Straus has made a $150000 contribution to the Texas Republican Representatives Campaign Committee (TRRCC) that will be used to help the GOP maintain its strong majority in the House Chamber.  In 2010 voters gave Republicans their largest House majority since Reconstruction and the TRRCC helped lead 21 Republicans across the state to victory.  

We were very successful in winning new seats in the last election so our focus now is to preserve that stronghold" said Rep. Harvey Hilderbran (R-Kerrville) who serves as chairman of the committee.

Were dedicated to helping the Republicans who made the last legislative session so successful. We have a finite amount of resources and many seats to protect but that is a good problem to have" Hilderbran said. 

In 2011 the Republican super-majority oversaw the passage of a balanced state budget that cut spending width=78by $15 billion over the previous biennium and increased state revenue without raise taxes.

The legislation we passed has helped keep Texas unemployment below the national average our state has been named the friendliest for small businesses and we are leading the nation in job growth" said Hilderbran.

Our goal now is to ensure that the representatives who are responsible for these successes receive credit in this election for their hard work and diligence" Hilderbran said.

width=126The Texas Republican Representatives Campaign Committee is governed by a nine-member executive committee all of whom are Republican members of the Texas House of Representatives.

Through the support assistance and advice of Republican state representatives the TRRCC is exclusively dedicated to assisting Republican campaigns for state representative in Texas and ensuring responsible common-sense government on every level.
