Staples Seeks 2nd Ag Commissioner Term

toddstaples2AUSTIN- Today Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples announced that he will run for a second term in 2010. I am running for re-election as Commissioner of Agriculture to continue the pursuit of common sense solutions that promote and protect Texas agriculture industry and ensure state government works for the people not the other way around" said Staples. During his first term Staples has met in-person with Texas families across the Lone Star State in pursuit of fulfilling his promise to visit all 254 counties. His first term focus has been on connectivity between rural and urban/suburban communities promoting the states agriculture/livestock economies public food safety school nutrition programs rural Texas jobs and fairly enforcing the states weights and measures laws including calibration of gas station pumps.  Staples continues to protect Texans by ensuring consumers get what they pay for from fuel pumps to grocery stores. Additionally Staples has focused on expanding and promoting the agencys successful GO TEXAN program that promotes the products culture and communities of Texas. Staples re-election campaign received immediate support from the Texas Farm Bureau the states largest farm organization.
