Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Edinburg State Rep. Aaron Pea has announced that he will seek re-election to the Texas House of Representatives. Pea who has won five previous elections to the Texas House beginning in 2002 will be seeking a sixth term.
As we come to the close of another session of the legislature I am reminded of the tremendous honor that it is to serve" said Rep. Pea. Weve had great success in completing many of the goals that we set out to achieve when I first ran for office yet there are many new challenges that lie ahead. The experience relationships and knowledge that we gained over the years give us the increased opportunity to meet those challenges head on and help provide a bright and hopeful future for our community."
Rep. Pea once again played a leadership role in the Texas House of Representatives. He was named chairman of the House Committee on Technology while serving on other substantive committees which included Homeland Security and Public Safety and Redistricting. Pea is the founder and first chairman of the Hispanic Republican Conference of Texas. The dean of the Hidalgo County House delegation Rep. Pea will file for re-election in the Republican primary.

Recently Rep. Pea has been recognized for his leadership and contributions to his community. Earlier this month the McAllen Chamber of Commerce presented him the Teddy Roosevelt Leadership Award. Last week Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott was in the Valley to present Rep. Pea the Champion of Freedom Award by the Texas Federation of Republican Women.
