State Rep. Cohen Kicks Off 2010 Campaign

width=71(Houston) -- State Representative Ellen Cohen kicked off her 2010 campaign for re-election to the Texas House of Representatives on April 25 with more than 150 guests in attendance at The Chocolate Bar in Rice Village. Rep. Cohen was joined by special guests Mayor Annise Parker Houston; and Mayor Richard Rothfelder Southside Place and emcee West University City Councilmember Steven Segal. She thanked the large crowd for their attendance at the event and their support during the last session of the Texas Legislature. I have often said that it is my privilege and honor to represent this District" Rep. Cohen said in her brief remarks. You are informed about the issues and you share your expertise and passion. Your input on education the environment health care public safety quality of life and fiscal responsibility has helped steer my agenda and my ability to represent all of District 134 Republicans Democrats and Independents alike in the way you deserve to be represented." Rep. Cohen reflected on the constituent mix and climate of District 134 and her commitment to continue to support legislation such as a Smoke Free Texas tax relief for small businesses and anti-bullying measures. She also made note of several bipartisan efforts benefitting and informing the District including the recent Higher Education Forum with Higher Education Committee Chair Dan Branch and the upcoming Appropriations Forum she is hosting with Appropriations Committee Chair Jim Pitts on May 6. Noting that as State Representative she often addresses audiences ranging from fourth grade classes studying Texas government to soon-to-be university graduates she underscored her belief that Healthy students are transformed into successful graduates ready to invest in a robust economy."
