During one of the most difficult sessions in recent history.
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Texas leads the nation in job growth because we have worked hard to establish a sound business environment that supports economic development & job growth"
said Rep. Harvey Hilderbran (R-Kerrville) chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee while accepting the Texas Association of Business (TAB) Fighter for Free Enterprise" award.
TAB recognized Hilderbran based upon its recent report on how lawmakers voted during the 2011 Legislative Session.
I am honored to receive this recognition and I will continue to be a strong advocate for legislation and policies that will improve our economy and bring new jobs to the state."
The report used 20 votes in the House of Representatives and 15 in the Senate to score legislators votes on bills affecting Texas businesses. Those legislators with at least an 80 favorable voting record received the Fighter for Free Enterprise" designation.
By voting for the interests of Texas business Rep. Hilderbran also supported all of the taxpayers of Texas" said TAB President and CEO Bill Hammond.

Without a strong business climate Texas wont have new jobs the economy will stagnate and the collection of tax dollars for state and local governments and schools will fall dramatically."
Hammond said that the 2011 session was one of the most difficult sessions in recent history.
Because of the budget lawmakers faced a lot of hard decisions but thankfully the majority stuck with the plan of trimming spending and holding the line on taxes" he said. Because of that Texas jobs climate remains good. I think this was one of the most successful sessions for business in recent memory."
