State Rep. Price Named to Energy Leadership Role

width=65Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas State Representative Four Price (R-Amarillo) has been selected to serve on The Energy Council a legislative width=71energy policy organization comprised of 11 United States energy-producing states 5 Canadian provinces & Venezuela. Price was selected for the role by Speaker of the Texas House Joe Straus.   The Councils purpose is to provide a forum for discussing energy policies and exchanging ideas regarding the production of energy. I am pleased to appoint Representative Four Price to serve on The Energy Council" said Speaker Joe Straus.  His experience on the House Natural Resources committee and his careful attention to the policy issues surrounding oil and gas and renewable energy will provide a much-needed Texas perspective in this role" Straus said. Regarding the appointment Representative Price said
I am honored that Speaker Straus appointed me to serve on The Energy Council. I thank him for the trust he has placed in my abilities and for the opportunity to work on these significant economic & national security issues. 
Price said the country must develop a sound national energy policy based on three essential components:
  1. Encouraging more domestic production of oil and gas right here at home
  2. Encouraging additional private investment in renewable energy projects as is occurring in Texas and
  3. width=143Crafting sensible and workable environmental safeguards that are scientifically proven.
Being from a Texas energy producing region Price understands how important oil and gas and renewable energy production is to our states economic engine. Our states reputation for oil and gas production is legendary however what is not so well-known is that Texas leads the nation in installed wind capacity Price said.  Texas is the first state to reach 10000 Megawatts of wind energy installations and Texas is home to seven of the nations top ten largest wind farms including all of the top five. The Energy Council is headquartered in Dallas Texas. Council members meet throughout the year.  Price said that he is eager to work with the other members of The Energy Council in collaborating and exchanging ideas best practices and sound solutions on these vital energy issues that affect all Americans. The Council was formed in 1975 following the energy crisis of 1973 during which the United States encountered oil shortages and long lines at gas stations.
