width=71Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  State Representative Dan Flynn (R-Van) rancher and small businessman who along with his wife Susan live in Van TX announced his plans to run for re-election in House District 2 for what would be his sixth term in the Texas House of Representatives. Flynn who also is a Commander in the Texas State Guards Maritime Regiment has been encouraged by his many constituents to run and continue to serve because they believe he can be counted on to work tirelessly on the serious problems facing Texas and our country. There will be many strong forces at work this next session to raise taxes rather than cut spending and many feel that his record of voting the way the district votes and seniority will help him to be in a position to make a difference. Representative Flynn said My commitment has always been to work every day to hold state government accountable and to keep out of the business of punishing job creators and to be in the business of protecting the jobs Texans need. My commitment will be to continue to maintain sound fiscal policy that includes regulatory reform and reducing spending. School funding water issues and border security will be of extreme importance in the 83rd Legislative Session. In response Flynn stated In this coming session I would be privileged to be serving in the top third of seniority in the Texas House. In the new proposed district which will encompass Hopkins Hunt and Van Zandt counties it will be my expressed goal to use that power and influence with the many relationships I have built among other members and agencies to fight for and protect East Texans the citizens of Texas and the ideals we all stand for. Sadly Rains County will no longer be a part of the new House District 2. I will always support the citizens of Rains County as I have in the past and I look forward to working with those in Hopkins County.
